Student Teaching Week 9

March 14-18

This was a pretty normal week. Mr. Beck was gone on Tuesday the 15 so I had a sub that sat in on my classes. It was a nice feeling when the day was over and I realized that the students had to depend on me alone and I did not let any of them down. Our environmental team made it to the state contest. I also got some experience in Parliamentary Procedure. I ended up having to learn right along with my students. This made it a fun challenge for me because I always wanted to stay a little ahead of them in learning the concepts and different motions.

Student Teaching Week 8

March 7-11

This week I finished an Animal Science unit with my Introduction to Agriculture class. This class on every Friday will learn something about FFA. In my 8th grade class I finished the unit on Agriculture is: and started a unit on Animal Science. The Horticulture class learned the plant parts and did some stem cuttings. They also planted some seeds that will be sold later at their plant sale. My birthday was on Thursday so Mr. Beck brought in treats for all of our classes. Overall it was a good week.

Student Teaching Week 7

February 28 - March 4

Trimester two ended on wednesday and we started trimester three on thursday. I spent most of the week getting all my grades in and figuring out my class roster. I had the pleasure of taking my first trip with a few students on my own. I ended up taking five seniors to the Farm Show at UNI. We sold rafel tickets for the FFA Organization. I attended my second prof. development. They are alot like taking a college class for a day.

Student Teaching Week 6

February 21-25

During this week I taught my first 21 Century lesson on budgeting to my Animal Science class. I started out talking about personal budgets and then transformed it into livestock budgets. A few of my students realized they were spending way to much of their income on clothes at this time and that if they kept it up they would not be able to afford to live on their own when they graduate this spring. We also had our FFA contest at Hawkeye on Wednesday. I helped with the job interview contest. Our parliamentary procedure, public speaking, and creed speaker made it to the next level.

Student teaching week five

February 14-18

This has been a fun and exciting week. On Tuesday we took 35 of our students down to the Winter Beef Expo for the day. The students really enjoyed it. Some of them have never been to anything like that before and didn't know things like that exist. On wednseday we had a late start because of the fog. So that played with my schedual a little. Than on Thursday Mr. Miller came to see me. Thank god my students were on their best behavior. I did not exspect some of them to be a well behaved as they were. The classes today were awful. It is friday and they are getting out at noon so the ones that did decide to show up were only here physically. It was a strugle to keep them on track, but it is all over now and I am still alive so thats alll that matters.

Students teaching week four

February 7-11

Classes were pretty normal this week. Nothing out of the normal happened in school. I did get to go to the FFA review night. I got a chance to watch them sort thought the Iowa Degree's but I spent most of my time judging the poultry CDE. They did not have enough judges so Mr. Beck volunteered me to help look through them. I found this very informational. I had never filled one of these out before so I found it very helpful to get to judge them.

Student Teaching Week Three

January 31 - February 4

This was a very short week. We only had school on Monday and Friday. I learned this week that it takes some work to rearrange plans to make sure you get all the topics covered that you want before the end of the trimester. During last week I rearranged my class stuff three to four times. Because of missing so many days week four is going to seam like it takes forever.
